Hired Mother is a one-act mystery play written by Cathy Petőcz about fantasy, fetish, and forgiveness set in a sinister Canberra, frozen in time. An alien falls to earth and hires herself the perfect mother to help her figure out how to be human, however, after a perfect lunch, the hired mother whispers in her ear: I need your help—I’m in terrible danger. Before long, the alien is breaking into apartments in Turner, climbing Telstra Tower, doing anything to save her hired mother, who is on the hunt for her real daughter.
